Volunteer & Employment Opportunities

Employment Opportunities

We currently do not have any openings, but we encourage you to check back often and reach out to us if you have a talent you think you want to share with us.

Why Volunteer?

Learn and Experience Something Unexpected

What happens when set yourself outside your comfort and you try something for the first time? BINGO!  You got it! You often experience spaces, idea, and people you have never encountered before which means you are seeing things for the very first time with fresh eyes. You are learning, my friend. We invite you to come spend some time volunteering here. The hospitality is great and there is always a piece of interesting history to dig into.

Find and Grow Your Talents

What are you already passionate about? Does it align with many of our staffs' interests in history, culture, arts, and all-things-Deere-family-stuff? Beyond the fascinating culture found here at the Deere-Wiman House and Butterworth Center, how can we grow together to learn how to become the best version of ourselves? We love embedding professional learning into volunteer roles.

Belong to a larger community

Outside the inner circle of your cat, dog, friends, and your family, see if you can find new people and other volunteers who have similar interests and want to get to know you what you think about purple ice cream!

But seriously, it takes a village, folks.

If you think you have interest and capacity in giving back in this way, please reach out to us at kfedje@butterworthcenter.com. We would love to work with you to match you on a project where you can make an impact.

Volunteer Opportunities

We work with volunteers on a variety of activities including tours, summer camp, educational programs, special events, behind-the-scenes event set-ups, gardening and landscaping, administrative support, marketing, donations, database collections, and other special projects.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email Kara Fedje, Director of Programs and Collections, at
kfedje@butterworthcenter.com. Tell her what you kind of volunteer partnership you are looking for (ie: what you have capacity to give and what piques your interest!)
