General Volunteer Descriptions
Below is a listing of volunteer opportunities that may be available throughout the year. Contact Angela Hunt at 309-765-7935 or ahunt@butterworthcenter.com for current vacancy information.

Tour guide
Give tours of Butterworth Center & Deere-Wiman House to groups.  Training is provided.

Floral sorter/arranger
Help cut stems, prepare ‘plant food,’ and organize flowers. Help arrange flower centerpieces and distribute flower arrangements throughout Butterworth Center & Deere-Wiman House.

Administration
Help with filing, collating, making copies and mailings.

Education 
Help prepare materials and supplies for outreach and in-house programs.  Assist in developing lesson plans and displays.  May present programs as well.

Research
Assist curator in researching historical articles, documents and photographs.  May help compile, document and summarize findings.

Garden Maintenance (beginning mid-May)
Weeding, watering, planting, etc. 

Visitor interpretation 
Answer visitor questions outside in the gardens during special events and scheduled days. Knowledge of plants and gardening experience is required.
