Deere-Wiman House
A look inside: The library
The library has gone through some structural changes. When the house was built the room ended where the steps begin to the organ. The organ room was probably added in the late 1890s. At that time they added the organ and the dome with the stained glass piece. From a turn of the century photographs we see that at that time there was a large desk in the center of the room. This tells us hat the room was Charles Deere's library and den. The majority of the books belonged to Charles, so we know that he enjoyed reading and probably spent a lot of time in this room.
