2004 Brinton Art Competition

The Brinton Art Competition is a student art competition for Moline students in 7th through 12th grade.  The competition honors Mary Jane (William) Brinton, great-great granddaughter of John Deere, and a long-time supporter of the arts.

Students submit a variety of artwork of different media and techniques.
Eligibility
Open to Moline students in 7th through 12th grade at the close of the 2003/2004 school year.

Rules for Entry
Each art instructor from a Moline middle or high school is asked to select up to five pieces of artwork for each of the following categories:

-Two-dimensional (artwork must be matted)
-Three-dimensional
-Photography

Each art instructor who submits student artwork will receive $50 to purchase classroom supplies.  Entry tags, including student's name, address, telephone number, title of artwork, and teacher's name must be attached.

All artwork must be submitted to Butterworth Center by June 7, 2004. Butterworth Center is located at 1105-8th Street Moline, Illinois.  Entries can be dropped off Monday through Friday between 8:30 am -4:00 pm.  

Judging
Artwork will be judged prior to June 27, 2004, and winners will be announced on Sunday, June 27, 2004 at 2:00 pm during the free family event, "Blossoms at Butterworth at Butterworth Center.  All students who attend the June 27th event will be photographed with their entries.  Artwork may be picked up at 5 pm on June 27th.  

Awards
A cash award for best of class and honorable mention will be given in each art category in the following three age brackets:

7th and 8th grade:
-best of class, $50
-honorable mention, $25

9th and 10th grade:
-best of class, $50
-honorable mention, $25

11th and 12th grade:
-best of class, $75
-honorable mention, $50

Every participant receives a certificate, and winners receive a cash prize.  A student accepts a cash prize during the award ceremony.
